The Global South Economic Forum (GSEF), established in London on 22 November 2018, is an independent, not-for-profit, international organisation addressing the complex challenges of the Global South—a vastly resourced region, home to 88% of the world’s population, yet generating less than 40% of global GDP.
From its inception, GSEF has collaborated with the Africa Asia Scholars Global Network (AASGON), a UN Global Compact signatory and UKSSD member, to strengthen research, policy, and innovation across the Global South. Key initiatives include the Global South Universities Association (GSUA) and the Global South Centre for Research, Innovation, Peace and Technology for Sustainable Development (GSCRIPTS-D).
Expanding its reach, GSEF has launched the Global South Engineers Association (GSEA) and the Global South Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (GOSCCIMA), fostering collaboration between emerging and advanced economies and building bridges across regions.
GSEF’s mission is centered on inclusive, people focused, and sustainable development, achieved through:
- Transparent public–private partnerships (PPPs)
- Evidence-based policies promoting peace and prosperity
- Multilateral dialogue among governments, academia, industry, and civil society
- Engagement with international frameworks, particularly the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
