- CALLS FOR UNIFIED VOICE IN GLOBAL GOVERNANCE
China’s launch of a new Global South media-and-think-tank network — linking more than 1,000 institutions across 95 countries — has been welcomed by the Global South Media Association (GSMA), AASGON and GSEF.
Abdul Dewale Mohammed, Founder of GSMA and Group Executive President of AASGON and GSEF, praised the initiative for its commitment to reshaping global narratives and addressing shared challenges such as climate change, uneven development, the digital divide, and geopolitical tensions.
The Foundation will convene global forums, support diaspora-led initiatives, and build partnerships with governments, development agencies, academic institutions, and civil society organisations.
Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Founder and President of the International Chamber of Media & Entertainment Industry, has been appointed the Founding President of the Global South Media Association (GSMA).
“With Xinhua and other relevant stakeholders, we will build bridges, open doors, and elevate the stories that define our shared humanity,” stated the President of GSMA, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Founder and President of the International Chamber of Media & Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), Marwah Studios and Chancellor of the AAFT University – Asian Academy of Film & TV – in India.

He congratulated the Network on unveiling the 2026 China-Africa Partnership Empowerment Action Plan, describing it as a major step toward strengthening the collective voice of the Global South in global governance.
Mohammed expressed strong interest in deepening collaboration between the Network and GSMA.
